Thera-Band, the original resistive exercise band, is available in 8 different color-coded resistances in 6 yd. & 50 yd. rolls.  Thera-Band is a cost-effective and non-threatening tool for rehab & therapeutic exercise. Bands are 6" wide. Theraband resistance bands are widely used for rehabilitation from muscle and joint injuries and for aerobics and general conditioning. TheraBand is the only resistive exercise band endorsed by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). These 6" wide latex exercise bands come in different, color-coded resistance levels, distinguished by the thickness of the band:

Band Color to Band Thickness Comparison: The pounds of pull needed to stretch a 12" band length to 24" is as follows:  yellow/thin 2.5 lb, red/medium 4.5 lb, green/heavy 5.0 lb, blue/extra heavy 7.5 lb, black/special heavy 9.0 lb, silver/super heavy 15.0 lb

Achieving your Fitness or Therapy Goals: The progressive resistance system makes it easy to measure progress in achieving fitness or therapy goals. Here's how it works. You start with a Theraband that has a comfortable resistance. As you use the exercise band, your muscle strength and endurance improves. The exercises become easier and easier to do. When you are ready for more of a challenge, simply move to a higher-resistant band (i.e. shift from yellow to red or green to blue). This increases the intensity of the exercises. The color-coded progressive resistance system provides at-a-glance feedback of your progress (also providing positive reinforcement). Thera-Band Exercise Guidelines: exercise band use can improve the cooperation of muscle groups. It also works on strength and range of motion. Thera-Band's unique properties allow them to be stretched and relaxed in a smooth and consistent manner. This prevents the bounce at the end of a range of motion exercise that can cause muscle spasms.

When exercising, keep in mind the following:

  • Warm up the muscle groups before exercising.
  • Don't use body oil with the theraband.
  • Maintain good posture.
  • Keep your wrists straight and in line with your elbows.
  • Don't bend your wrists.
  • If you start to lose your posture, stop and reposition yourself.
  • Breathe normally. Exhale during the most difficult phase and inhale during the easiest. Don't hold your breath.
  • Use controlled movements.
  • Don't continue exercising if anything hurts while you are training.
  • Maintain the natural width of the band to keep it from digging into your hands or sliding up your legs.
  • When you finish your workout, stretch. Tip: Make a handle by tying a loop in the band or tying two bands together.

Thera-Band Use and Care: Please consult your doctor or healthcare provider before beginning an exercise program. Then, while using the band, stay in tune with your body. If any exercise causes you to hurt - stop! Don't over exert yourself. Caring for a Thera-Band is simple. Just store it out of direct sunlight.  And regularly examine it for nicks, tears, or punctures that might cause the band to snap.

thWARNING: CANCER & REPRODUCTIVE HARM; PROP 65 WARNING INFO

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals.

Are any businesses exempt from Proposition 65’s requirements?

YES. Businesses with less than 10 employees and government agencies are exempt from Proposition 65’s warning requirements and prohibition on discharges into drinking water sources.  Elgin Division is exempt from Proposition 65 requirements as our business has fewer than 10 employees, however, we feel that it is important to warn CA residents of the possibility that some of our products may contain chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

More Specific Information about Businesses and Proposition 65:

https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/businesses-and-proposition-65

Proposition 65 also prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging significant amounts of listed chemicals into sources of drinking water.

Proposition 65 requires California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown to include approximately 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987.

Proposition 65 became law in November 1986, when California voters approved it by a 63-37 percent margin. The official name of Proposition 65 is the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
